Good value, pretty, slightly rustic feel, cleans easily

This dinnerware set comes with 4 small plates, 4 dinner plates, 4 bowls. They are packed very carefully and arrived unscathed. The size of the dishes are standard and not a miniature version. I find the design of the dishes modern and almost rustic with the brush detail around the edge. There is sprayed eggshell finish on them that has a texture to it (see photos). I find the finish anti-stick and so these dishes are exceptionally easy to clean. On the other hand they have a roughness when scraped with a spoon or knife and can be a bit noisier than a smooth surface. I also find that the dish warms when microwaved. It seems to get warm but not hot. Im sure if it were microwaved for a long time it could get hot however so something to consider. Over all a good value.

FANTASTIC DINNERWARE SET!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this dinnerware set! The pale blue / sea blue color is fantastic and I love how the color is applied around the edges. The matte frosted surface is something I've not experienced before but I love it! It is like a very smooth surface with little smooth bumps which really helps to prevent food from sliding all over the plate! That helps when plates are moved, when food is put on the plate and while you are eating. This is a full dining set for 4 people and EVERY piece is functional! I'm not a fan of sets where the bowl is super tiny. In this set, the bowl is a full sized salad or cereal bowl or soup bowl at 6.3" wide and 2.2" deep. Plenty big! The dinner plate is 10.2" diameter and the salad plate is 8.6" diameter.I also love that the dinner and salad plates all have upturned edges - that prevents food from sliding off the plate and also makes a nicer presentation. These plates are microwave and dishwasher safe which is great - they are easy care. They are sturdy stoneware and I've not experienced any chips or scratching at all.Love this set - highly recommend!

Love the shape, hate the texture

We have several sets of dishes from KINGSTONE, and they've all been pretty good. Some have been white bone china, some have been smooth glazed ceramic, some have been embossed with designs around the edges, some have been dipped in solid colors, some have been handpainted, and so on.This set is handpainted and quite nice, but the texturing here is completely different from anything else we've received from the brand. The ad calls this a "matte white finish" and a "matte frosted finish" and a "matte texture." None of these descriptions is quite right. While the plates indeed have a sort of matte finish (i.e., they are not particularly or overly glossy, though there is a mild shine), the texture is something else. It's extremely rough and bumpy. It's more like the orange peel texture you get in a can for spraying on the wall. It actually reminds me a lot of that textured spraypaint that comes out looking weirdly sandy and crusty. The texture is not so rough or sharp that you could grate a clove of garlic on it, but it definitely has a bit of "sandpaper" going on. I personally find it unpleasant. I would not want to use a knife to cut anything on one of these plates. That's all kind of unfortunate, as I otherwise like these a lot. The plate shape is great; it might be my favorite yet out of all the dishware that we own. The plates all have nice high lips/edges (called coupe rims), and the transitions are sharp. These stack very easily, which I personally find to be pretty important when it comes to grading dinnerware. I love the silhouette of these dishes. The painted pattern underneath the rough finish is also quite nice. The color is advertised as "blue," but it's more accurately a grayish blue gradient. (To my eye, frankly, it's more of grayish-black gradient than anything else.)If you can stand the texture of these plates, they're a solid five stars in terms of quality, but they're still a bit too expensive. KINGSTONE stuff always seems to be a bit on the pricier side compared to similar ceramics, and while it's always pretty nice, I do think their sets are routinely overpriced by maybe 25%C30%.So, I'll knock off a star for the lower value proposition at play here and call it a day. (The issue I have with the texture is completely subjective to my tastes and isn't really relevant when it comes to grading the actual product.)PROS?? Good materials; quality ceramics and glaze?? Good size (10 inches, 8.5 inches, 6 inches)?? Dishwasher safe?? Microwave safe?? Beautiful shape/profile/silhouette?? Raised coupe rim is perfect?? Very stackable; attractive in the cabinet and on the tableCONS?? Rough "sprayed on" texture is hit or miss (I dislike it)?? Too expensive for a 12-piece setVERDICT?? I would not buy this again (but would if they made this with a smooth finish).

Beautiful set for a great price!

Here is the revised review using only descriptive terms:---This 12-piece stoneware dinnerware set strikes a nice balance between modern minimalist aesthetic and everyday practicality. Providing service for four, the collection includes large dinner plates, smaller salad plates, and deep bowls. What immediately stands out is the visual texture. A delicate, speckled glaze gives each piece an artisanal, handcrafted appearance that easily elevates everything from casual weeknight meals to weekend gatherings. The exposed, unglazed frosted base on the underside isn't just a stylish contrast; it also adds a practical anti-slip grip on tables and countertops. In daily performance, the tableware holds up remarkably well to the rigors of a busy kitchen. Crafted from high-density ceramic fired at high temperatures, the pieces feel substantial and solid without being overly clunky. They handle microwave reheating seamlessly and clean up effortlessly in the dishwasher thanks to the smooth, stain-resistant surface finish. Additionally, the flat-bottom design with slightly raised outer rims makes stacking neat and space-efficient in standard kitchen cabinets, while keeping sauces and dressings safely contained during meals. While the material is chip-resistant and durable, flatware does occasionally leave marks on the surface, though these usually buff out with gentle ceramic cleaners. Because these plates hold heat very effectively, handling the dishes straight out of the microwave also requires a brief cooling period or a hot pad. Overall, for anyone looking to upgrade their tabletop with a versatile, stylish, and durable everyday set that looks far more premium than its price tag suggests, this collection is an excellent choice.

nice-looking, heavy and solid

I really like this KINGSTONE dinnerware set, especially at under $70 for four places. The stoneware material has a heavy, substantial feel and a pleasantly earthy, slightly rough texture that gives it more personality than ordinary dishes. The approximately sage-green color is nicely represented in the photos, and I especially love the very flat plates with their generous raised lip. They give you much more usable surface than the sloped designs on many sets. Everything arrived well protected and intact, and being microwave and dishwasher safe makes them genuinely practical for everyday use. They feel durable, stack well, and are easy to care for. I do use a sheet of parchment between each of them to prevent scratching. Also, they stand solidly in my dish-drying rack without tipping over like my previous set did if I wasn't careful. Definitely a nice-looking, sturdy set that feels like a lot of dinnerware for the money.

Attractive reactive-glaze set that feels handmade and holds up to daily use

This KINGSTONE 12-piece stoneware set serves four and features a hand-painted reactive glaze in green with a matte frosted finish. No two pieces are exactly the same thanks to the kiln process, which gives it that handmade, slightly organic look instead of perfect factory uniformity. The vertical edges on the plates and bowls are a practical touch they actually help keep food and sauces from sliding off as easily as on flat-rimmed dishes.Stoneware feels solid and substantial without being overly heavy. It stacks reasonably well and holds up to regular microwave and dishwasher use without the glaze dulling quickly. Quality is good for the price; the pieces resist everyday scratches and chips better than thinner ceramic sets. The green reactive glaze has nice depth and variation that looks more expensive than a basic solid-color set.Its not fine china for formal occasions, but for everyday meals or casual entertaining it hits a sweet spot between style and function. Overall a well-made, good-looking dinnerware set that brings a bit of handmade character to the table without sacrificing practicality. Solid choice if you want something with more personality than plain white plates.
